Too Much Questing, Deeds, Exploits, Crusades

July 13th, 2014

After a very Long week and weekend of Quests to tame the Grass Eating Monster, Crusades to eliminate the Creeping Flora of the Backyard, Deeds of party preparation, and Exploits of party completions I have come to an earth shattering conclusion.

I am getting too old for this.

From the random thoughts of Bilbo Baggins in answer to Gandalf’s question, “I am looking for someone to share in an adventure that I am arranging, and it’s very difficult to find anyone.”

“I should think so — in these parts! We are plain quiet folk and have no use for adventures. Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner!”

….Amen, Mr. Baggins!

It was a merry and adventurous week, but I have injuries and abrasions from all of this running about the hill and dale.

My foot is not right, it is very wrong and quite left, my arms are too tired to even lift a plastic dixie cup of water to my parched lips, my back is aching and cranky with great moanings and groanings.

Maybe I am not too old, but maybe I need to keep the Questing, Deeds, Exploits, etc… to once per week instead of 6 full days of it.

I shall have to think on that one for a bit.

If I were Bilbo I would sit out on my bench, light my pipe with my best pipe weed and blow gigantic rolling smoke rings into the air, but I am not Bilbo so I shall sit on my swing in my backyard and enjoy the small breeze stirring the trees.

So, maybe I’m not too old, just too over zealous.  Wanting too much adventure in too short a time.  Yes, I think that is it.

Well, I’m going to go rest my foot and give my tired and travel wearied body a good epsom salts soak.

Till next time.
