The Craft-day Countdown is done…

Well, it’s officially over. 🙂

My first craft show is finished and under the bridge.  It was fun, painful, potentially embarrassing, exhausting, did I mention fun, and I learned a lot. 🙂

Write, Draw, Write, Draw, Write, Draw…Oh, and Craft a bit too

Hello all you wonderful internet land dwellers,

I’ve been diligently slaving away at the old keyboard working on the rewrite phase of my toothfairy book….Sigh. I Absoposolutely do NOT like rewriting. Bleh. :/

To bring everyone up to speed….cause it’s been forever and a day since I’ve been here in the land of internet…. I’ve been writing a book called Biscuped Molar and the Gaptoothed Monster.
It’s a children’s book…for those of you who were unsure. ;)-

Hello October…Wait, what?

Somehow the new month is upon us like a leopard pouncing from an innocent looking tree limb.

School has handed me a plate of boy-howdy-is-this-a-lot-of-work this year.

I am still attempting to work on my books and meet my January deadline for finishing my Bicusped Molar book, but life is coming at me a bit fast.  :/

I’ve bookended our school week with Homeschool group-type activities on every Monday and Friday.  Leaving only Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to finish regular school work.

Thursday is still my personal writing day, but when I add field trips, dental/ortho appts, doctor appts, social activities, or pop-up Homeschool days out, it Really cuts into our 3 days to get things done.

I’m Extremely glad that my Randomkid Youngest isn’t working outside of the home as of yet or I would Really be pulling my hair out. Ack!

So, in order to sneak in writing and/or art I try to work it into the actual homeschool schedule.  If we are doing art I pick an activity that I can practice something for my illustrations and hopefully the Randomkid learns a new art form or new art technique.

And the Randomkid is working on a few manuscripts as well, so working in writing is not a problem.

Really it all gets back to that elusive shadowed specter named time.  I just never seem to have enough of it.  😦

I just finished watching a three part series on FB with tips on how to set aside time for writing.

The speaker challenged writers to map out what your day looks like from morning to evening for an entire week…three weeks is preferred, but reality is a week will be all I get done.

The idea is that after writing down your activities for a week or so you can see just where you might have free time and prioritize what you Really need to work on during that time.

I know right now that I need to reprioritize my screen time from research/recreational watching to actual Focused writing time. :/

I am starting off the month with my no FB, Pinterest, Netflix, Youtube time until after 7pm, unless I am in motion on some form of exercise machine.  ;)-

That really seemed to work well for me during the month of September and helped me to get moving more often.

Because the reward for movement was screen time.  Rofls

So, maybe after I get through this week I will be able to discover my hidden free time and use it for good instead of evil.  Ha!  XD

TTFN,

The Bluemoon Thinker  🙂

P.S.-  Happy October!  May your leaves all fall exactly where you would like them to and may they stay in the piles where they are placed.  ;)-

Happy Leaf Jumping!

Happy Fall Ya’ll!

This morning I woke up at 6am…don’t ask. :/   Grumble, grumble, roar
But on the bright side I was happily greeted by Snoopy when I checked the time on my Ipod announcing the arrival of Fall.
Aaaand the temperature outside…at least this morning actually Felt like Fall. Yay! Continue reading

My Very First Writer Interview…

Hello everyone out there in internet landio.

I was asked to do a Writer Interview on a lovely friend’s blog the other day.

It was Extremely fun and I wanted to post it on my page as well. 😀

I will post a snippet on my blog, then please buzz on over to Tuna’s Cafe to finish the rest. 😀

Please take a moment to peruse the menu while your visiting the Cafe.  Kristina, the proprietor and inventive wordsmith of the business, has a variety of Creative Dishes to sample. 🙂

So without further ado~

Living a Creative Lifestyle with The Bluemoon Thinker

Hello there, my name is The Bluemoon Thinker ~AKA~ Mandy Perfetto.  I’m a homeschooling mom, and newbie in all the following:

Writer

Illustrator

Photographer

Artist

Random blogger

And generalized re-discoverer of doing cool things in my life.

I was asked by a Very Creative friend of mine…the Tuna inspired proprietor of this Online Café of sorts, to write something about living a creative lifestyle for her blog.

Her request made me think a bit…a very scary place to be for me.  Anyhoo, it brought me to an interesting pattern of thought.  Do I live a creative lifestyle?  What does that creative lifestyle look like to other people?

TTFN,

Me 🙂

P.S.- Happy Interviewing!! 😀

A “Create Space”…

For the past several months I’ve been doing all of my creative work sitting at my kitchen table.  I like sitting in my kitchen because of the windows.  I love to be outside or near the outside when I’m creating. 😀

But, the downside of working in the kitchen is constantly cleaning up my mess.

Sooooo, I found it was about time for me to find a “Create Space” just for me an my mess.

So, I took over the upstairs foyer area and I’m turning the area into a “Me” area.

It is a work in progress.

It’s an extremely small space, but I have access to two separate closets and a window….I can’t see out of it as I create, but it’s sunlight streaming in, so I’m cool with it. 😀

I will post pics as I get it finished up. 😀

TTFN,

The Bluemoon Thinker 🙂

P.S.- Any of you out there in internet land have a “Create Space” for yourself?  Have any hints or suggestions for a creative use of small spaces for storage and display? Any help would be much appreciated…I’m livin on Pinterest right now dreamin and plottin ideas. Lols

Happy Create Space!! 😀

Risky Business…

I’m a writer.  There, I said it….Good grief, why is that so hard to get out. Lols

I’ve written a book and I’ve sent it out to my first level of official beta readers…..Risky business having other people look at your work. :/

For some people I know that doesn’t seem like much of a risk, but for me it’s Huge.
Putting your work out there for other people to critique or just plain read it is a frightening concept. 😮

Will they like it?  Will they hate it?  Will you ever be able to look them in eye in public again?  Will you feel awesome when you hear back from them?  Will you want to bury your pen and writers notebook in the back yard to never see the light of day again?  Aaaaaaaah! 😮 😮

So for me, it’s a gigantic risk. 🙂

But now it is done.
I finished all the edits on my book…at least what I could find.  😉

After reading it over and over and over for a few months it all looks the same after a while and you find yourself in a place where you just need to be done with it and get it out of your hands. 😀

So it took me all day of hiding myself from everyone and everything and giving myself a deadline of 2pm, but I got my edits done, my beta reader critique survey form completed, printed all of it out and packaged it up for my beta readers.

Ross

As you can tell I like to do it up right.  😉

I can’t help it, I like to decorate everything with stickers and drawings…it helps me express how I’m really feeling to the person I’m communicating with…..Probably why I’m the emoticon queen.  Lols  😀

Each person got a different envelope and I tried to put something different on each of them that would fit their interests.

Ross Manuscript 2

So my precious baby is all out of my hands now.  I won’t be hearing anything back for  at least a few weeks…I hope. 😉

I asked my beta readers to give their critiques back by the end of May…I figured that should be plenty of time for them to fit it into their busy lives and not sound too pushy.

Well, no rest for the weary. I’m jumpin’ off to keep workin’ on my robot drawings and to work on my second book in the series…. The Kitchen Caper….at least that’s what I’m callin’ it for now.  Lols

TTFN,

The Bluemoon Thinker  🙂

P.S.- Calculated risks….we take them everyday.  Have you taken any calculated risks this week?  Did you put Your pride or reputation on the line this week?  Feel free to leave a line or 5 in the box below as per usual.

Happy Risk Taking!  😀

Just Two days left…

I saw the prompt today on the Daily Press and was immediately inspired to write up a little ditty for today:

Locked in my room and shut up tight
I’m hiding myself away all day just to write!
No one will find me, try as they might
I must finish my work if I can, by tonight!
Hopefully my blogs haven’t been sounding too trite
For now I have a deadline, but I promise I’ll jazz up my site

Thank you Daily Press, I’m off to finish the edits on my book for tomorrow’s deadline. 😀

TTFN,

The Bluemoon Thinker 🙂

P.S.- A little Power Muzik to get ya through the day….. Andy Mineo

My fave part…

Well, if I listen to you, and everything you put in my ear
I’ll be living like woulda, shoulda, coulda, I’ll be paralyzed by fear
Huh, ain’t that the truth, if I quit the only way I lose
I got two choices when I do this – make moves or make excuses
Huh, if you know who I’m talking about, then you got me
My biggest enemy is me – and even I can’t stop me

Let the Countdown Begin!

I’m down to the wire on my book edits…tryin’ not to freak out over here.   😮

I’m gonna be workin’ overtime tomorrow to get finished up.  Write! Write! Write! Write!…I mean Edit! Edit! Edit! Edit! Lols

Laundry?  I don’t think so!

Dishes?  Find a paper plate people!

Cleaning the house?  Uh, uh…Not gonna happen!

Cooking?  Possibly if I absolutely Have ta!

Okay, I’m  a jumpin’ off to go work on mah edits. 😀

TTFN,

The Bluemoon Thinker  🙂
